I attended an Ajax 5 -1 win over last years Dutch Cup winners.  The stadium is great but does not compare to Husky Stadium when it is rockin’.

Special 3 course Thanksgiving Dinner at O’Reilly’s Pub including Detroit vs Green Bay followed with a night on the town.  Both were excellent.

If you are reading this, I am probably very thankful for you (I don’t know why anyone I’m not close to would be).  I have been very blessed in life to be surrounded by incredible people who have tried to push me to be all that I can be as a person.  I have been fortunate to have people give me the opportunities to serve them as well.

My feelings are that success in life is not gained by monetary means or in how many accomplishments are recognized by others, by the greatest accomplishment is measured by the relationships we develop.

Although I regularly make poor decisions, I am most grateful that I have been able to recognize how much people have sacrificed for me and how lucky I have been for all of the opportunities and experiences in my life.  Maybe the greatest gift in life and Thanksgiving is the ability to be thankful.

Happy Turkey Day everyone!

Lots of work lately.  This has been a busy quarter with many challenges and difficult courses.  Finals will be interesting as well as the three papers I have to write in the next few weeks.

I had a fun time visiting Brussels.  While it is a great city, overall the buildings and feel are much more modern than Holland and other countries.  I cannot say for sure, but I bet many of the old buildings were destroyed over the years as Bussels, harmed by its central location, became the target of many military raids and battles of power(WWII, WWI and before).

The  typical tourist things were a must while here which included a large bowl of mussels for lunch and a Belgium waffle just before departure.

We happened to stumble upon the Musical Instrument Museum which I had seen previously on Rick Steves Europe.  This place was great.  Not only did it chronicle the centuries of musical development but you were supplied with your own set of headphones that would  play clips of music  of a given  instrument when in close proximity.

I noticed a beaten down and worn sign with a picture of a beer while on a quest to find a good Belgium beer with equally desireable surroundings.  The quest led us down an alley to an unmarked entrance. The place, also doubling as a string puppet theater, had that ambience that made you feel you were in real Europe where centuries of people had felt the same enjoyment you were experiencing now.  Hopefully I will be able to find a place like that here in Amsterdam which mixes rustic feel of yesteryear with a good beer that can be enjoyed for hours.

Overall, good trip.  Do not know if I will visit Brussels again while in Holland as the next Belgian stop is Bruges.

Tomorrow – Brussels

Waffles, Duvel, and good sites.

Next Week – lots of school work

Next weekend – Amsterdam Ajax football game

Quad Pic

While not my favorite, a sport above any other.
