Then…travel with dad and stepmom for a few weeks…Queens Day…then back to Seattle to write my thesis.
Let the games begin!

Following last quarter’s finals, 3 of my friends and myself went on a roadtrip through France and Luxembourg. We stopped along at Brugge, Belgium, in France: Caen, Lille, D-Day Normday sites (Omaha Beach and Point Du Hoc), Bayeaux, Le Etratet, Saint Malo, Mont Saint Michele, Rouen, Reims, and in Luxembourg, Luxembourg City and Esch-sur-Sure.
Highlights were:
Great company and our mutual exploration. This included frequently asking directions while driving in the countryside.
The D-Day Sites – even though it was not my first time, it’s an incredible experience
Mont Saint Michele – we drove up at night to see this lighted mass floating over the water. It was an incredible and scary feeling.
Le Etratet – the cliffs here were amazing.
Obelix’s Stone – from the cartoons Asterix and Obelix, the stone Obelix carries on his back. For an example, click here. The stone was not overly impressive but the journey to find it was the key. While on our way to Saint Malo, we wanted to stop to see the stone at Dol-Brittangne. First stop, we could not find it. After Saint Malo, we decided to give it another shot and found it (although it was dark by the time). I guess the saying holds here, it’s more about the journey than the destination.
Great trip, I hope to be able to do this again someday. I assume my exploration of the continent of Europe will continue to last over my lifetime. Next time, Southern France!
Finally, these are my German friend Felix’s pictures. There are far more so if anyone is interested, I’ll show them once I return home or you can check them out on Facebook.
…And yes, I no longer have that dirty porn star mustache.

I just heard this statement on MSNBC news: ”UPS has just announced that it will cut 1,800 middle management positions in hope to boost quarter earnings.”
Such a same. Maximization of shareholder equity is gradually eroding any human-ness in corporate America.

Being back in Seattle was an incredible time. I was able to spend lots of time with my family (unfortunately my mom was in Sun Valley after Christmas) and Courtney as well as go to Lopez with 15 of my friends. Lopez was great, as it always is, despite the furnace being broken in the thick of winter: lots of catching up, eating and drinking in my favorite place to visit in the world.
New Years Eve was also perfect spending time at my cousins then going to South Lake Union with friends. Overall, great trip which reminded me of all the things I temporarly miss out on being in Amsterdam.
In a couple of months, I will be able to return again. I am sort of homesick returning this time but I know it is not forever. Guess this may effect moving here permanently. Europe is great but there is no country like the USA.

I’ve been very bad at keeping this up lately. I think it had some to do with being so excited for my travels back to Seattle to see my family, friends, and girlfriend.

I attended an Ajax 5 -1 win over last years Dutch Cup winners. The stadium is great but does not compare to Husky Stadium when it is rockin’.
